Letter from the President
Dear University Faculty
for Life Member:
I write to encourage you to renew your UFL membership for 2010. All the pertinent information is available on the UFL website, www.uffl.org. Please include any updates in your contact information.
We just concluded a very successful annual conference at Catholic University of America. The conference was expertly organized by Frank Beckwith (Baylor) and Father Kurt Pritzl, O.P., who was a wonderful host for this conference.
I am grateful to Frank and Father Pritzl for their work in making the conference a success. We are also grateful for a generous grant provided by Our Sunday Visitor Institute and a contribution from Americans United for Life, and the hospitality of Catholic University and in particular the Columbus School of Law.
The 2010 conference featured a tribute to Father Tom King, S. J. who passed away shortly after our 2009 conference. The tribute included moving reflections from Nora O’Callaghan and Father Joe Koterski, S.J. The 2010 conference also featured a plenary address by Hadley Arkes, the 2010 recipient of UFL’s Smith Award for Distinguished Contributions to Pro-Life Scholarship.
I wanted to take this opportunity to let members know that the UFL Board recently authorized the creation of a UFL blog. See http://uffl.org/blog/. We hope the blog will help to inform our membership about UFL activities as well as serve as a way to note recent scholarship and to discuss pro-life issues. UFL also sponsors a listserv for members. If you are interested in joining that listserv, please contact Keith Cassidy at kcassidy@uoguelph.ca.
Please mark your calendars for our next two annual conferences. Our 2011 conference will be at the University of Notre Dame on June 10-11, 2011 and our 2012 conference will be at Brigham Young University on June 1-2, 2012. Both conferences will bring
UFL to new locations and we are looking forward to having our conferences at such fine institutions.
Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions. And thank you for your continued contributions to building a culture of life.
Sincerely,

Richard S. Myers
